Activating your service

Your Argentina mobile phone number is located on a white sticker on the reverse side of your SIM card packaging, above the bar code. The mobile phone number will begin 07. It will also be located on the SIM card beginning "Your Telephone number is..."

  1. Travel to Argentina.
  2. Be sure that the battery is adequately charged.
  3. Insert the SIM card into your GSM phone*.
  4. Turn the phone on.
  5. Enter PIN code^.
  6. Dial *151 from your mobile phone
  7. Press 1 when prompted
  8. Enter the 12-digit recharge code
  9. Start calling.

* You will need to snap out the thumbnail sized SIM card along the perforated edge of its holder and then insert the SIM card into your international mobile phone with the gold contacts of the SIM card facing the metal contacts of your mobile phone.

^ Your Argentina SIM card may require a 4-digit PIN code found in your paperwork. The PUK is only required to unblock your phone if you enter in a PIN code incorrectly 3 times. Follow your mobile phone manual instructions to correctly use the PUK to unblock your phone.

Making and receiving calls

How to make a call

To make an international call from your Argentina mobile phone dial 00, followed by the country code (1 for the US) and phone number.

How family and friends call you

Family and friends need to dial the international prefix then the country code 54911 and your mobile phone number.
For example, when calling from the United States, callers need to dial 011 54911 and then your mobile phone number.

Recharging your account

The Argentina SIM card (Personal Telecom) ships with one free ARS$20 (approx. US$5) airtime voucher. Additional credit is available through the purchase of airtime vouchers. These Airtime vouchers are available locally in Argentina, at convenience stores, petrol stations and Telecom Movilcarga outlets. Airtime vouchers are available in AR$10 increments up to a maximum of AR$100 (approx. US$35). To recharge your account, simply follow the instructions below.

  1. Purchase a recharge card, also called Personal Light card
  2. Scratch off the protective layer to reveal your recharge voucher code
  3. Dial *151 from your mobile phone
  4. Press 1 when prompted
  5. Enter the 12-digit recharge code

REMEMBER: Do NOT purchase another SIM card when your airtime credit is depleted! You only need a recharge voucher! To check your remaining airtime balance, follow the instructions below.

  1. Dial *150 from your mobile phone.
    You will hear your remaining account balance.

Service life

If you do not recharge your account within 8 months, your SIM card and phone number will be recycled and any remaining airtime credit will be forfeit. Every time you subsequently add airtime, the validity of your SIM card will be extended for 8 months.
